Staff Selection Commission CGL Exam Pattern for Tier I & Tier II
The SSC Exam consists of the following features:
1. The SSC exam is of Objective type that contains Multiple Choice Questions.
2. Exam consists of four sections i.e. General Awareness, General Intelligence, English, Quantitative Ability.
3. Duration of the exam is 2 Hours.
4. The exam is conducted for a total of 200 marks.
5. The exam consists of 200 Questions.
6. There is a negative marking of 0.5 for each wrong answer.

A. SSC CGL Syllabus for General Intelligence & Reasoning–
Analogies, spatial visualization, problem solving, analysis, similarities and differences, spatial orientation, judgement, discrimination, observation, decision making, visual memory, relationship concepts, arithmetic number series, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, non-verbal series, syllogistic reasoning, coding and decoding, statement conclusion etc.
B. General Awareness-
History, Culture, India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports, Geography, Indian Constitution, Economic Scene, General Polity, scientific Research etc. Current Affairs etc.
C. Syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude
Number Systems, Decimals & Fractions, Fundamental Arithmetical Operations, Surds, Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Profit & Loss, Time and Distance, Discount, Time & Work, Whole Numbers, Interest, Percentage, Mixtures & Allegations, Trigonometry, Average, Ratio and Time, Mensuration etc,
D. Syllabus for English
Verb, Error Correction, Transformation of Sentences, Articles, Active & Passive Voice, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Rearrangement, Direct/Indirect Speech, Synonyms, Idioms & Phrases, Unseen Passages, Subject-Verb Agreement, Tenses, Adverb, Vocabulary, Grammar, Comprehension, Antonyms etc.
